This article is about the rock formation in New South Wales (Australia). For the islands in Queensland (Australia), see The Three Sisters (Queensland). For other uses, see Three Sisters (disambiguation).

The Three Sisters is a rock formation in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. They are close to the town of Katoomba and are one of the Blue Mountains' best known sites, towering above the Jamison Valley. Their names are Meehni (922 m), Wimlah (918 m), and Gunnedoo (906 m).

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 01, 2010 - It comprises of some articles and short stories. The author described the story of this beautiful “Blue Mountains” park, that according to his guide the three mountains called three sisters were the daughters of a shepherd who kept roaming in search of three equally wealthy and handsome gentlemen to marry his daughters. When one decent eligible man proposed for one of them he refused saying that he can not lend him the hand of his daughter as the other two will be unhappy. Thus, continuing the search of equal happiness for each of his daughters he ended up with all three, unmarried and old. One day he recalled at this point (Blue Mountains) that one eligible man proposed for his daughter yet he refused in the fear of making the other two unhappy or jealous. At that time, one of his daughters said, at least that way, today one of us would have been happy! This made the old man realize that the happiness of one is not the unhappiness of others. He transformed them into the three stones; today we call the “three sisters”.
