New South Wales is a fantastic holiday and travel destination and is Australia’s oldest and most populous state. It is located on the east coast and has much to offer the international tourist. The capital is Sydney, the host city of the year 2000 Olympic games, and there is much to see and do here.
Sydney is the most popular point of access for tourists visiting Australia as there are many flights daily, to and from hundreds of overseas destinations. The city has plenty of excellent
hotel accommodation on offer and every possible standard is fully catered for. You will everything from a backpacker hostel right through to the best five star hotel on offer in Sydney. While you are there you will want to visit Bondi Beach, Taronga Park Zoo or take a ferry ride on the magnificent Sydney Harbour. It is also an excellent place to join an organized tour or to rent a motorhome to tour the country in.
New South Wales has many other places that you will want to see during your visit. The
Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury River are close by. The south coast boasts the best beaches in the world and some sensational coastal scenery.
Canberra is the nations capital and full of history. The Snowy Mountains National Park in the south, is home to great skiing resorts like
Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Mount Selwyn. The scenery here is spectacular and the skiing is world standard. There is plenty of on snow accommodation and everything you need for a skiing or snowboarding holiday is available for hire.
As you travel north from Sydney the weather gets warmer. The temperate climate is absolutely superb and the coastal resorts are in high demand. The Central Coast has fantastic beaches and holiday accommodation. Places like Terrigal and the Entrance are great for a holiday. The Hunter region consists of the wine growing regions of the
Hunter Valley and the coastal resort region around Newcastle and
Port Stephens. These are both great for all boating and beach going activities. The Hunter Valley is a superb holiday destination with fantastic resorts, great golf courses and a hundred or so vineyards and cellar doors to explore. It is a wine lover's paradise. Further north you will find Port Macquarie and
Coffs Harbour. These are both extremely popular destination with Australians for their holidays. Both have excellent beaches and boating and fishing facilities as well as magnificent forested hinterland regions. The far north coast of New South Wales includes the beachside resort towns of Byron Bay,
Kingscliff and
Tweed Heads. All three have some great resorts and bushland hideaways where you can relax in a sensational resort.
